I just moved on to real plants, and for the first time ever have an algie problem. Looks like hair algie. Witch is not just on my glass, but on my plants as well.

I moved my Otto's from my over tank, as the BN pl*c's wern't doing any work, The plecs move where the Otto's where. Well the Otto's don't seem to be having much inpact Iver.

SO, how do I get rid of this stuff, if I need a certain fish, it has to be non aggressive, and not get to big, as I an pushing my stock as it is, I will be hoping to get a 36g in the new year, so a slow grower would be fine.

I not normaly stuck on solution, but I am on this one, and it making the tank look such a mess it driving me up the wall.

The best way to attack the problem is to study the threads in planted tank forum first, IMO. Adding fish is only trying to treat the symptom, not the underlying cause. I believe I've read that a total blackout for a few days with absolutely no light allowed into the tank will help. Better study more though, I'm no planted tank expert.

Thanks I keep forgetting we have a plant bit to the forum. I had a quick read though there though at 3:30am, my brain won't take any of it in.

More reading me thinks.

Some people have had luck with a total blackout for 3 days, others have not.

I think everyone who has tried it has had very much luck with using maracyn, but you'd have to ask more about this.

You should probably try to learn why your tank has BGA and then adjust your tank accordingly so as not to enoucnter the problem again. It's basically caused by an inbalance in light, nutrients, and plant growth. I think, (don't quote me on it), but too much light and insufficient plant growth (due to lack of CO2 or lack of plant quantity) = BGA. Something like that anyway.
