Hair Algae

If you have algae & real plants, this pinned topic might help you sort out the root of the problem. Adding a fish to try and help, will often not help. Especially not hair algae.

Can you give us some more information about your tank?

How long has it been set up?
How many gallons is it?
What fish do you currently have in it?
How long have you had the hair algae problem?
Do you have real plants in your tank? And is the hair algae only affecting them?

hello thanks for the replys! rite...my tank is 20 gallons ( or maybe a bit less) the tank has real plants and is set up with a bogwood furnished decor, and black sand. the plants i currently have are all java ferns, and i also have a large ball of java moss. the plants are injected with Co2and there is plant tabs in the substrate. the only tank inhabitants are a banjo catfish and 2 red clawed crabs ( which are doing well in fresh water i may add) and are not attacking the banjo. the tank has been set up for about 5 years and i recently rid of my live stock which included a large common plec. since i ridded of the plec, this is when the algae started to grow. the lighting is a single tube backed up with reflectors and is ather bright for a single tubed setup. thanks in advance, summatfishy :)
