Hair Algae

hi George,
i know that (now) but i will use Seachem Nitrogen untill end of month when i send for Potassium nitrate and some bits

thank u again for your help

Andy

A rather simple version that will kill off most hair, brush and other algae is simply doing a 3-4 day black out in conjunction with Excel dosing at 2x the rec dose.
Do daily water changes, no need to cover the tank completely etc, unless there's BGA in there.

This will beat up most any BBA and hair type algaes.

NEVER USE ALGICIDES.

If it does not help grow the plants, do not add it to the tank.
the focus should always be about the plant needs, take care of that, learn what it takes to grow the plants well, you will not have algae issues.

I'm not lying to folks about this, but if you want to suffer, that's your own business,
Focus on growing the plants(that is a hobby), that is the path to enligthenment, not learning the ways to kill algae(not really a hobby is it?).

Tom Barr

Good to see you recommending over dosing excel Tom. After returning from my 2 week holiday recently I had some cladophora rear it's ugly head due to under dosing. Treated the tank with 2.5 times overdosing of excel daily for a week. Seems to have done the trick. I didn't bother with daily water changes, just did my normal 50% at the end of the week. Kept an eye on the cherry shrimp, but they didn't seem at all bothered.
