Hair Algae On Bogwood

black the light out until its gone i did it and it took 3 days

I find that bristlenose plecs eat any algae on bogwood if your tank is big enough for one. Otherwise try the method that smurfy suggested.

If it's JUST on the bog wood, take the bogwood out of the tank and boil it.

Then think about what caused the algae in the first place.

no p[lecs that i know of will eat black algea :( :good:

How do you removed hair algae from bogwood?

Look out for a fish sometimes called Fish Net Flying Fox, or Network Flying Fox (Crossochielus reticulata), they absolutely mow there way through black hair algae.

Ok, Hair algae and (BBA) Black Brush Algae are two different types of algae altogether. If you have BBA, you might have success with an overdose of Flourish Excel (do a search and you'll find out how) this thread might help you.

Amano shrimps took care of BBA for me :yahoo: as for hair algae, you can put a toothbrush in and twirl it around and it will pull it off  then while it's short, the likes of bristlenose plecs and amano shrimp can take care of it  I had it in an unplanted tank, so I put my canus apple snail in, he munched the lot :D, but be aware they eat plants.
