Hair Algae Eaters

Which fish will eat hair algae? I know there are sites out there, which I'm reading, but just wondered what people's experiences of hair algae eating fish is.

Needs to be a peaceful community fish too

The best experiences I've had are with amano shrimps.
Fish are often too active to eat strands of hair algae, where as shrimps just browse all day long.

Siamese algae eaters are meant to eat all kinds of algae not had any experience with them though.

I am sure this had be said before but the first line of defence for algae is sorting out the root cause, then cleaning by hand and then some addition to the tank inhabitants (if really needed)

I had lots of this stuff and my fish seem to eat it.
I have 3 guppies, 3 swordtails, 1 siamese algae eater and 1 bristlenose plec

I'd go with shrimps if your tank doesn't contain anything that will eat them.

I acquired some hair algae ridden plants and split them between my tanks. The cherry shrimps in the small tank made short work of the algae and there was none left within a couple of days. In the other tank, the siamese algae eaters (which are supposed to be great at dealing with hair algae) have barely made a mark, although they do seem to be constantly grazing.
