Fish Crazy
After seeing some impressive set-ups using this as substrate, I'm thinking of changing the substrate on a couple of my smaller tanks but I have a few questions.
Firstly in some of the tanks I've seen this used in, the tank owner refers to the substrate as Hagen Black Natural River Sand. However, I can't find this product online - I can only find HBNR Gravel. Is it the same product? I'm just wondering whether people who describe it as sand are calling it that because it's a very fine grade gravel and looks like sand?
Secondly, out of the online stores I've looked at so far, the cheapest price I can find it for is £12.99 for a 10kg bag. Does anyone know of anywhere selling it any cheaper than this?
Finally, the base measurements of the two smaller tanks that I want to use it in are 24" x 12" and 12" x 12". Would a 10kg bag be enough for the two tanks and how deep would the substrate be? To make it simpler, it's the same as having a 36" x 12" footprint (thought I'd just chuck that in on the off chance someone's used it on a 3 foot tank)
