Ok....i have a 50 gallon tank...which in reality is probably more 45 if you take into account plants, bog wood and substrate etc. I currently have it fairly heavily planted and the lighting works out at 1.6wpg.

What i would like to know is if i could utilise two of the hagan co2 units effectively on this tank? Would they make a difference, i would probably be adding flourish excel to compliment this as well as the basic mineral ferts.

I have been recommended pressurised co2 but tbh it is too expensive for me and as im a total beginner wouldnt feel to confident in using one.

So would the two hagan units be sufficient? :S

Two kits would probably work ok, but you'd be a the top end, as each is rated for tanks of 70lt. You dont have to use excel if you're adding co2. CO" IMO is better as thats what the plants would use naturally.

Thanks. Im not looking for super fast growth but it will give me the oppertunity to grow a greater variety of plants using co2. :good:

i have 2 in my 55, pretty good, now just do your own mixes for the fizzler instead of the one hagen provides, and you should be all set, theres a sticky for creating your own mix.

Yeah i have read up on them and the concensus seems to be that the hagan mix is rubbish! Have already had a read of the pinned thread and will be following it but thanks anyway :good:

Go to george farmers pinned "guide to co2" thread and then under "methods of injection" and then "yeast based" there is a link to the homemade yeast recipe. :good:
