put an otto in there? Do bettas get along with ottos? And can I put an otto in a 5 gallon tank?

Well he tried to start a fight with the snail but that was about it. As long as 5G is enough for the otto. I have another tank should they not get along

otos don't like to be on their own really, they like to huddle with each other, but more than one wouldn't really fit happily in a 5 gallon, they're quite active when they get going!

I agree with catzz. My ottos are extremely hiper little things, they love zipping around the lenth of the tank (I have NEVER been able to catch one, lol). Ottos really should be in groups of 3 or more, similar to corydoras harem behavior. Mine always hang about together. So personally I don't think a 5 gal would be sufficient.

No, ottos should be kept in groups of at least 3 I believe and grow to around 3" so you would be well overstocked hun :/

ummm... i know im a lowly newb here but mine are only about an inch and a half (and have been for a bout a year now) which is the size i thought they were supposed to be...

Well I said "around" 3" the ones I had were def 2" but not sure if full grown. Always best to err on the side of caution with stocking I feel :D

The zipping around the length of the tank wouldn't be a problem its 2ft long! Never mind anything else I can have in there? Any cories that would fit? I like panda cories and they just got them in stock at my LFS how big do they grow?

Now I'm confused.... I do not know of ANY 5 gallon tank that is 2 ft long. O.O Think, its a 5 gallon tank with a fish that can grow up to 3 inches long, and an apple snail... Personally, I wouldn't put anything else in. George, my my old man, has a body thats about 3 inches long, and his tail adds another inch and a half or so to his length... only thing I think you could probably fit in there might be 2-3 ghost shrimp.

Its 24 inches by 8inches by 8 inches used a volume calculator it was just over 5 gallons. Ok thanks anyway

Ahh, that explains it a little more. *Envious sigh* Why can we get tanks shaped like that in america? Without paying extra. *Pouts* hmm. I suppose it depends on if you could get some Dwarf cories or not... Corydoras australe are cute, and supposedly only grow an inch... that would leave you 3 ish inches for your betta.
