Whilst out yesterday, i went into a small fish shop in a local garden centre, i really want to name and shame, but i wont
In a small 2 foot tank!!!!!!!, were two of the most stunning oscars i have ever seen, about 10" ans 9", a conversation with a member of staff, who genuinely seemed to care but needed the job revieled that the oscars had been brought in because the owner could not cope with the amount of fry, and that this was the only tank they could put them in.
I pointed out that the 4' tank they had 6 little parrots would be more suitable, but the manager (who looked about 6, and did not give a t0ss) said that the o's could die in there for all he cared.
I'm not a violent guy but a could have floored him there and then, he then said i could have them for £100 if i wanted them.
£100!!!!, i asked him how he worked out the price, "proven pair" he said i asked him if he'd seen them spawn, or could even confirm that they were m/f, "of course they are m/f" he said, obvoiusly with his years of experience he was expert in sexing oscars.
i told his that basically i would take the oscars off him, for a REASONABLE PRICE, so £10 later i was on my way home
Anyway, here i am the owner of arthur and martha, a pair of red o's (venting them confirms it) they are in a rio 300 at the moment all on there own and seem to be enjoying stretchng their fins.
Brave or stupid, time will tell but they are better off with me than in a 2' tank and left to die.
The kids love 'em and who knows then may even get to see thm raise some fry!!
heres to rescue fish
