I need your help! (again) Last night I noticed one of my new black harlequin rasboras floating at the top of my tank. It looked pretty lifeless and I noticed it had a white spot/growth on its side, about 5mm in size.
When I put the net in to get it out the fish sank to the bottom upside down and looked like it had died. I got the fish out and he was still moving about a little bit (no way near as much as it should have been) and the spot came off in the net, and left a white spot the same size beneath it.
I decided to put the little fish out of its misery after this, and all the other harlequins and other fish look fine now. Should I be worried that this could happen to another fish in the tank, or was it some sort of tumor that can just happen to individual fish. All the fish looked fine earlier the same day, but I haven't really looked closely at each one since I bought them 5 days ago to know whether this spot was there before I bought them.
The tank was been running fine for a couple of months, I do a weekly 15-20% water change and all water tests are coming out great. It is 180 litre with an external filter. The fish I have are 1 opaline gourami, 3 bosemani rainbows, 10 neon tetra, 2 blue rams, 6 loaches (2 zebra, 2 pakistani, 2 polka dot) and 2 USD catfish. Haven't lost any fish up til now although did start with 11 neons but no idea where the missing one went!
