Hey all... I am a very mad person right now when I looked into my tank today and noticed some hair algae :| I took a few pics and hope someone else can help me out.

My tank is coldwater, 48 gallons, 130W 6700K lighting. I do weekly water changes and rarely add fertilizer.

That's some beautiful hair/beard algae you got growing!

Only fish I know for sure that eats it, since I had the same thing infesting my tank a few months ago, is a Siamese Algae Eater. You can literally see them pull it off the plants.

Ohh oops sorry I forgot about reading that it's cold water...

I once heard of a guy who would scrap it off each leaf with a razor blade, otherwise I don't know :dunno:

I liked the artical you wrote but I cant seem to get stuff like that here in Canada. As for the SAE's, its a coldwater tank :(. One LFS said to try some green x. Has anyone ever used this before?

well they do for us.

the tanks are spotless at work. the coldwater tanks with out them need to be cleaned regularly
