WalMart wellness check.
See a beautiful reddish-gold boy.
Upon closer inspection, his tail is GONE.
The entire thing, like someone snipped it off like a scissors.
Made me wanna cry.

What are the odds that part of it will grow back?
he seemed somewhat normal otherwise.

I'm just wondering if he needs me.

He will probably get continously passed up for other "prettier" fish and never find a home. You should go get him BettaMomma.

That's exactly what I keep thinking about. He looks like a very happy, friendly little guy. He swam over to me and said hello when I looked in on him.
There were lots and lots of other fish there and he was kinda pushed to the side.
I decided to put him toward the back of the bunch.
I'm going over there tomorrow at lunch.
If fate has him still left there, he's coming back to the office with me.

You know, it's getting really hard for me to do these wellness checks anymore.
Sadly, now if I find one unless he's in DIRE need of some emergency care I just can't get them. I already have so many. THe problem is that if I find one it's really emotionally SUCKY to turn my back and leave. And I've found that pointing out the sickies means squat to these places. They just stick them back on the shelf after I'm gone.

I think I may go get this guy, cuz I'm sure he won't be bought overnight - or at least it's doubtful. He may only get a 1 gallon container for the time being, but at least he'll be smothered in TLC.

I also found a poor little fella at PetWorld tonight. He was laying on his side on the bottom of his cup in oodles of waste and junk. And he had a couple of scales that were falling off and just hanging there. OH, and part of his dorsal fin was just missing. Like a lawnmower had been by. That one I had a really really hard time leaving behind. I pointed him out to a PW employee but he said they really dont do much for them except dump in chemicals. At least I told him.

poor guy :-(

Hey Momma did they have any of the CT'swhen you were at PW?

Yes, that poor guy at Walmart needs you......heck, the one at PW needs you too. You get that 10 gallon from your friend, get a divider or two, and you're all set girl!!

Good luck!

Nope - no cts.
They didn't have their new shipment out yet.
All the ugly females were left and all the non-glamorous boys were left.
It is so sad to go in and see all these guys left over from last time their shipment came in cuz no one wants the uglies. Until I got Charlie, all of my boys were sick uglies when I got them. They just didn't really feel good so their coloration was off.

I really want to go back and get the tail-less wonder, but I really don't know where to put him. I can NOT do the 10G setup, divided. I'll be forced to get rid of someone else here at home if I bring another one home, and since I just got a nice little promotion at work I'm actually moving to a new area, with a smaller desk. Go figure that one.

I might have to get one of those little AquaView 1G tanks for him.
But I don't know yet. We'll see what happens tomorrow.

You're telling me.
BUT - my paycheck is bigger so I can afford new tanks.
Ironically, I have no place to put them.
heh

I say convert them all to the nice 1 gallon tanks and make the "fishy high rise" I saw in the "Show you tanks" post. :p

Hey, I have a crazy idea. :hyper:
I'll go pick up the boys, and some decos and gravel and deliver them to YOU with the 10G tank. When I deliver the angels. Then YOU can have them. And I can provide moral support.

I seriously will be kicked out of the house if I bring anymore tanks home.
