Came back yesterday to a faulty heater that basically cooked my 2 oscars and my Pleco . I'm absolulty devastated cause I've had the oscars from they were only a couple of inches long. Kinda feel like its 2 pet dogs I've lost. Whole tank that has been running for about 2 or 3 years was destroyed .

So I'm gonna have to start fresh. I've a rio 125 and a 320 liter 5ft custom build tank. I'm only gonna use one but the reason I'm posting is I'd like some advice as what to put In it.

I've had everything from livebearers ,frontosa , oscars(my favourite) , aquatic frogs , clown loach etc , all the usual but I'm looking something a bit differant / special. Don't mind spending a few quid . Can't decide what type of tank to setup.

Any suggestions?

Aww man that is terrible!!!! I have just come back from a weekend away and on the journey home I was worrying about the fish in the heat :( Really sorry to hear about this :/

Im a bit biased but would reccomend sticking with Cichlids :) For me they are the only ones that you get that dog like interaction from :)

Anno . My tank was already on the warm side with this heat wave.
Yeah I'm siding with the larger cichlids but can you recommend any that are really colourful and work well in a community.
I'd seen a guy selling his large cichlids but I can't remember what they were called.

Not sure if a 5ft is big enough for jaguars or not but if it is then that Is what I would go for!
Sorry for your loss

Personally I like tropical fish , and if i was lucky enough to have such a big tank i would probably waist it on tiny guppies and platys. have you considered angel fish? they are beautiful fish. I once owned a parrot fish, loved him to death, but he out grew the tank. had to rehome him to someone who owned a 70 g. She sent me pics he got much larger too. Good luck!! I was considering at some point in the future getting some oscars, considering you enjoyed yours i might just do so, (in the future). Sorry about your loss. I know even loosing a few guppies was hard on my heart, i cant imagine loosing oscars.
