Had 6 Platies Now Have 5 But Tomorrow Think 4

Hi ther put this post in generl discussion earlier today
but thought i try in here

Had 6 platies ( 2 red 2 orange 2 rainboe)
happy as merry 2 week ago,
Had trouble with my water last week wedesday
Found a neon had died , hide itself under a plant did not see him
any water test was
nitrites O.5
ammonian similar
did huge water change(about 50L of my 65L tank) and complete clean , gravel plants
put fish back in

everybody seemed a lot happy apart from 2 of my platies ( 1rainbow 1 orange)

1st rainbow seemed to hug the bottom just lying still
other was always lying on top of the filter
the rest of the platies rounded and started harrasing the 1st
finally got better of him last night found him a bit dead wen got in from work
now thw other is just lying up against a plant at the bottom of the tank

whats there problem,

Did the bad water do them real bad harm

all other fish in tank seem quite happy neons are back to shoaling other 4 platies seem happy enough darting round the tank


so what going on in there??

any help or comments greatefull

Yes any nitrites/ammonia is toxic to fish and will harm them,

Keep a regular check on these,if they go above zero,waterchanges are needed.

I know you done a fishless cycle and in theory your filter should have handled the load,neons are not hardy fish and has a rule is not advisable to add until a tank is 6 months old.

Yep got to put my hand up to the neons
but my ignorance and LSH you could say miss selling ( lieing)
any how
they seem fine eating well and shoaling again after loosing there mate
just its the platies that are acting weird

they were all paly now i seem to have 5 loners and 1 of them is as good as dead

My platies don't really hang out together although the males do follow the females waiting for an opportunity to make hay

Are you definately sure they are all male?
