I have 4 pregnant females, 3 guppies, 1 platy. They are all pregnant, (Majorly so), but they have yet to give birth! They look very, very, very pregnant and have for the last six-eight days or so... Why wont they give birth?

every hear the saying, "a watched pot never boils?", i had someone else witht the same problem last week. Just be patient, try to forget about them, and they will come.

The only 2 things I have to offer are be patient, like kirl said, and if your guppies look like blimps, and litterally like blimps, then they will pop REALLY soon!!! Keep us updated!! Good luck! :)

Hehe, I know, I am just very impatient! I cant wait for the fry!!

I agree be patient. Some fish are healthy as ever and pop those babies out right away and others are more stressed and need more time. I bought a female guppy and within 1 week of having her she had around 20 fry  . But this one female guppy i've had for over 4 months and no fry yet(and yes there's males in with her) but finally she's looking REAL round, almost squar-ish so im sure she'll have some within a week or so. I have females thats are gonna have their 4th batch of fry and others that are still developing their first. Dont worry , it wont be long before you start seeing babies :p Just depends on the female

Kirlaskia, add tank info to your sig. :D

I just wanted to know if your tank(s) could handle a rapid population explosion. If so, then I wish you luck.

Anywho, if you're really that much in a hurry, you could raise the water temp to about 78 if you haven't done so. This should shorten the gestation period and make your fish "pop" sooner.

Its at 79 degrees, and yes there is more than enough room! No worries there!
