If you have simply set up a tank and placed fish into it, you are likely to now have some very poor water quality. Fish release some ammonia from their gills constantly and the fish food and fish waste also decay and produce ammonia from that decay. The fish are not able to tolerate much ammonia in the water so they will be suffering from the exposure. In your situation, I would do an emergency water change of as much water as I could move without making the fish flop around on dry gravel. Be sure to treat the new water with a decent dechlorinator and try to match the temperature to the old water's temperature. I do that by keeping a container of the old water next to the sink where I am filling my water change bucket and checking the temperature for comparison with my hand.
A new fish tank means setting up a good way to test your water until the filter has completed its cycle. At that point you can start doing regular weekly water changes of 15 to 30% and seldom need to test the water. During that first period, you will be testing the water daily to make sure you never get a build of ammonia or nitrites so having your own test kit is essential unless you just want to do lots of huge water changes to guarantee the water quality stays good without using a test to prove it.
