Hey, did a 20% water change yestarday and i have noticed yestarday afternoon that my guppys are flicking them self against my Amazon Sword leafs.

My ammonia = 0, Nitrite = 0 Nitrate = Low, the water i put in was the same temp as the tank, and i aded Tetra Aqua AquaSafe chlorine remover.

Each fish is only flicking maybe once or twice an hour, so not much.

could this just be that they dont like the AquaSafe or is it something more sinister

EDIT: all there gills look lovely and healthy, and the fish in general look in great condition

Okay, bit more info please. I'm assuming stocking is as per your sig: 5 guppies and 6 harlequins. Is there anything wrong with the harlequins?
Hae you used Tetra AquaSafe before? If it's a change in water conditioner, that could be what's bothering them.
Has the pH changed at all?

Add a bit of aquarium salt (1 tsp/gallon) and see if that clears it up. Livebearers, particularly guppies, are very prone to internal and external parasites. It's possible that these were introduced with the new water, even water containing chlorine can sometimes carry them. If the salt doesn't work, do a large WC and add a parasite medication - preferably praziquantel which is good for external parasites but you could also use pyrantel, trichlorforon or levimasole (sp?).

Yer the stocking is as my sig says. The rasboras are absolutly fine, and all the fish look very healthy, used AquaSafe before, i may try getting my hot water out of the kettle during my next water change instead of the tap. Havent seen them flick once today, so i may hold off with the salt for now.

thanks for the help, i'll keep you posted!
