One of my male guppies seems to have his mouth stuck open. Upon closer inspection it seems like his mouth/lips are somewhat injured. I can't get a picture as he won't stay still or get at the right angle. He has been like this for a day or so now. He hanging around at the top of the tank moving very slowly.

My only idea is that he got into a fight with a shrimp as I found a dead one on the bottom of the tank a couple of days ago. He didn't seem to be eating any pellets but I will try him on some flake now. FYI the shrimp are very small ghost shrimp, nothing with pincers.

It could be fungus but I can't see anything hanging out of his mouth. His lips just look…shredded?

See if you can put him in a floating breeding trap...if he is being picked on then that will give him some security from the culprit while he heals.
He probably won't eat if he's in pain especially a mouth injury.
I can just say monitor while he is in the Q net/box or tank, and melafix...
Test your water also to see that everything is OK.
Someone else may have some better advice but for now I would check levels and keep him by himself.

Don't use Melafix. It's not a great product. I'm a firm believer that medicine shouldn't be used unless absolutely necessary. In this case, just try to avoid feeding him for a few days and increase water changes to avoid infection. He should heal on his own. If you have a hospital tank, put him in that. Try to avoid putting him in a breeder box or net because these can stress fish. Decreased water flow, ammonia build up because the water can't get to the filter, and just a small space aren't really great for fish. If you do use a trap, change the water frequently (even just pouring the trap back into the tank and scooping tank water back in) will help. Maybe add an airstone.

Also, I read somewhere that some ghost shrimp sold are actually other shrimp under this guise. I'll see if I can't find that information and post it here.

Macrobrachium lanchesteri is a shrimp sold frequently as ghost shrimp. Males can be aggressive towards each other and can sometimes be aggressive to fish, particularly juveniles and fry. Maybe that is what you've got?
