I'm planning on getting a 10 gal for guppy breeding

with a heater

and a filter

Should I get substrate or are the fry gona get stuck in it?

If you are using it purely for breeding , there is no need for substrate. It also makes it easier to clean the tank.!

I am no expert by far, But I have a similar slightly larger sized fry tank for mine who all seem to be doing fine, and I have sand ... They dont really seem to dwell down at the bottom much, Lots of people prefer to have the bottom free of substrate to enable easier cleaning but I have Pygmy Cories who do a fine job ... LOL
Becky.

I like to have some sort of substrate in fry tanks, i find sand is good...

When you have none at all its fine but it just looks crap, but if that dont worry u then your fine :)

Oh forgot
Dont forget that your filter may suck up the fry mine did .. LOL
Nylons work a treat wrapped around the inlet if it is internal filter
Becks. x.

I use smallish pea gravel in mine and i've never had a problem though.

Get liquifry food and crush your flake up really small-fattens em up a treat!

Nah i'd divide the tank, one side has the filter inlet and one side the heater, the fry are on the heater side and the mature guppies are on the filter side (i'd still use stockings though just to be safe.)
