My male keeps extending his gonopodium, but all he seams to be doing is swimming at the female with it, then she just swims off

Is the gonopodium supposed to penetrate the female?

yes, my new male is doing the same thing. He stores his sperm in his gonopodium and is trying to reach out and......"get to female". Females, can store sperm packets for the next couple batches.

I don't think it is intended to penetrate the female, at least not in a way that you would notice.

I had 3 females that would not get pregnant by my male

The male places packets of sperm on the genital opening of the female, their's she then absorbs it in and uses it in fertilisation.
