Got me a tank of 14 guppies. Two of them have a habit of staying in the same spot all the time apart from feeding time which is twice a day.
One stays at the bottom of the tank behind the plants, he pecks at the tank or gravel now and again but generally stays in the same spot.
The other one stays at the top of the tank between the tank wall and the filter, if another fish goes near he has a go at them but goes back to the same spot afterwards.
They both seem happy and the others swim about as normal.
Is this one of the idiosyncrasies of guppies or could it be something else?

Will ask a couple of things first before saying anything further

Tank size?

Is tank cycled?

Water parameters, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH?

Water temp?

Do you do weekly water changes and how much?

Answering those will help give a much clearer picture of whats may be happening in your tank, then we can give more accurate advise or opinions.

Tank size? 64 ltr (2')

Is tank cycled? Yes

Water temp? 27

Do you do weekly water changes and how much? Weekends 20%

Do you have any water parameter readings?

Right, ok.

That would be the first thing I'd suggest you do, if you do not have a test kit, you can take a sample of tank water to LFS and ask them to do full tests for you, be sure to ask for specific readings, do NOT accept the standard "it's fine!" answer from LFS staff.

The guppy on the bottom at the back. I've noticed that the tank wall it's looking at looks like a mirror. Do you think he thinks it's a friend? That's why he keeps going back there?

They probably aren't reacting to the mirror. What are their genders? All males?

Being all males they will still have a hierarchy and the two males that are staying on their own could be the bottom lugs on the hierarchy ladder.
