Firstly, the reason it made think about this, is I have had to put one of my female guppies in the breeding trap as she was being severely harrassed by FOUR males and a male endler, bless her and she looked miserable.

I am glad to say, in the trap she is happier and more quiet with the light off

I actually don't know if she is due to drop, but I couldn't watch the boys try to kill her (she is rather square mind)

ANYWAYS...

usually, how long is a guppy pregnant for? right from conception to birthing, as, admittedly, I don't usually know when they've done the deed, but I do know the signs for when they're due, just curious, as I have seen some fry around the tank (usually let nature take its course), and the female who had sprung them the night before was soon being harrassed again bless her

can anyone answer this? or is it a kind of "you'll know when she's fat"!

A Guppy's pregnancy lasts 4-6 weeks. So if you know the last day she dropped...start counting! getting close to day 25 is a sign that in the next week she should have her babies

At typical aquarium temperatures, a guppy will drop at just about exactly 4 weeks after she is mated. I find that fish take a bit longer between drops when there is no male in the tank with them but they continue to drop every 5 or 6 weeks for up to 6 months without that male. The common livebearers that you are likely to run into can all store sperm that long. Some other livebearers, like goodeids, do not store sperm the same way at all. They need a separate mating for each fry drop.

she was getting way too stressed in the net, so i let her loose, and she still appears to be pregnant lol.

i do have four squishes in the net atm, thats if the fourth has stayed in there this time (i must have put him back 20 times  )
