OK well it appears that my guppy is having babies! If you read my post in chit chat you will see i killed one by accident..... I put the fry in the breeders net with my other fry and they seemed to be picking on it so I tried to catch it and smushed it... :-(
But I found another one! What im wondering is will my mollie fry (that are almost 2 weeks old) eat my guppy fry?
I dont know where to put my guppy fry (at the moment I only have one) if my mollie fry are going to eat them!
Thanks :D

Hi Mariah :)

I don't think your molly fry will eat your guppy fry. If the guppy's are too big to fit in the molly fry's mouth then they will be safe  I'm sure the molly's are too small to eat the guppy fry :D

Hey,
I dont know because the mollie fry are kinda big. Like when they (mollie fry) were just born they were big. This guppy is smaller than they were when they were first born....
Cause as you see in my first post the mollies were picking on my guppy and than when i tried to save the guppy... you know the rest :-(
So I dont know what to do. Should I chance it and put the guppy in with them or leave the guppy in the net over night untill tomorrow when i can get another breeder net?
Thanks :p

Well, if you can...
go out and get a 2.5 - 5 gallon tank and use water from your already established tank, get a heater and a sponge filter :) (I've never used a sponge filter so please don't ask me about them :p) But I know some people use the sponge filters for fry tanks  I just use a HOB (Hang on Back) filter and put some sort of netting on the bottom so the fry don't get sucked up. If you got a 2.5 - 5 gallon tank then you could just put the guppy's or molly's in there
Or just get the other breeder net tomorrow until you can get a tank for your fry :p

I have 3 different batches of guppy fry in together  1 lot is 1-2 months old (not quite shore when they were born :S ) 1 3 weeks old and the other just 1 week old. they are all in a 2.5 gallon tank :D and they seem to be getting on fine  (if u do get a tank dont put stones in yet because one of mine wedged itself between some stones and sadly was dead :rip:) they also seem to be growing really fast now  .i got my 2.5 gallon tank from a pet store and it was only £7.99  , i thought that was cheep so there not exspensive  .i'm sure ur guppy will be fine with ur mollies  but i'm not a 100% sure :dunno: .

by the way it is recommended to at least get a 5 or 10 gallon for fry as a 2.5 is def. too small for anything more than 10 small fry IMHO....you may stunt their growth and you will need somewhere to move them in the future anyhow - so why not a 10 gallon from the beginning...HTH

I cant really afford right now to go out and buy another tank and i have no where to put it... But I will see what I can do :) But I do have a 50 gal that they will be going in once there big enough for it :fun:
I have another question though... My guppy appears like she has stopped having fry but now there are black things hanging off her with a little bit of white.... Is this normal or do I have a problem?? Shes been like this since last night....
Im not sure if you read my other post but shes the one with the internal parasites but the things hanging out of her dont look like they did before...
HELP!
Thanks

Oh and my little guppy (the only one i saved) is in a net at the moment...

there r 23 guppy fry  in the 2.5 gallon tank  (i'm not that good at mesuring in gallons :/ ) and they seem to be doing fine :) i have a tank ready for them when there older :fun: which will hold at least 40 :D of them in when there bigger.does anyone have a pic of a 10 gallon tank :dunno: just want to see how big the tank has to be.

yeh but its big enough until they get a bit bigger there not that big at the moment.

you can seriously stunt their growth even if they are there for a short period of time..and the fact is they will need new homes before they are big enough to give away to your friends and what not so it would be a very very good idea to get them a bigger tank...i have a 2.5 gallon which is currently unused because i would rather keep my fry in the larger tank even though it will become quite overstocked when they begin to get a little bigger...thats when i will invest in a 10 gallon growout tank, which really isn't that expensive and is really worth it

Ok im going to try this again... My guppy gave birth to some fry yesterday. Im not sure how many fry she had but I ended up catching one and have it in a net at the moment.
The mother guppy this morning had black things coming out of her. I just got home now and thoese things are gone but what could they have been?
Thanks
