Hi just want a little help my female guppy had 7 babies last nyt but one is still in the egg so i assume this one was stillborn or died in someway?...I would like to know where is the best to keep then do i put them in a seperate tank a friend of mine sed its ok to put them in a tank but no filter as it sucks them up? how long do u keep then in there for is it till there bigger enough to go bank in the big tank? hope you can help with me with some of my questions.

congrads on the fry

you can put them in a saperate tank but the filter has to be very weak or has to be coverd so the flow is not that strong so the fry do not get sucked into it
or you could use a net
this is like my net : http://www.tropicalfishandaquariums.com/FishCare/BreedingNetPhoto.asp
it is good to keep them in a net like that they are safe and the water conditions are good

another thing that you could do is just leave them in the same tank and hopethat some will live to be adults... this is what most people do if they do not wan to keep the fry but some do live to be adults

yes if it only an egg like you said that means that it is dead and that you should try and get it out of there

you can put them in the tank when you are sure that they are bigger then the mouths of fish that you have in the tank so that they do not get eaten
this could be around a month or two

good luck with the fry

First off congratz! I use to have guppies myself and they had babies once... I had no idea what to do. I came into my room and looked at the bottom of the tank and there were like a bunch of little ones. What i did, is i put all the fry i could see into another tank and had one of those bubbler thingies in it. The tank was like one of those betta fish tanks... about 4 gallon i would say. Yes, you do want to keep them in this tank until they are big enough to go back into the tank with the parents. If you put them back too soon then the parents might make a snack of the little fry. Also, i fed my fry ground up fish flakes... After going through all of this trouble i soon bought another fish tank and put the females in one tank and the males in another. Saved me sitting there for hours looking to make sure that i got all the babies out of the tank ^^ Good Luck with your own fry!

Its really cool when you have fry congrats.
I use a fluval U2 filter in my fry tank but I put a ladies tights over the intakes to stop the fry getting sucked in.
It works fine for me and since doing it I havent lost a single fry through the filter.

Welcome to the forum xxLeighannxx.
As long as you do not have many adults in a tank and they are well fed, some fry will survive in a guppy tank. I keep a simple 10 gallon, 37 litres, tank with this population of guppies and remove all adults several times each year to sell them at club auctions.

The population will bounce back to a maximum level within about 2 months of removing all adults. Guppies are prolific and fairly easy on their fry so they keep increasing their numbers until they just become too crowded. For my little tank that takes about 2 months.
