Ok my guppy is now heavily pregnant, i have cleared the tank aprt from leaving my ruby shark and ancistrus in.
Is this ok? (My shark hates the fish in my other tank  )
How many fry normally survive?

Well, I don't think the shark will have any trouble eating fry, so I wouldn't expect many to survive. And yes, your shark will hate the other fish in the tank as he is aggressive. You're also aware he gets to 6" and will need a bigger tank?

How many usually survive depends on the tankmates, and decorations. In your tank, I would say just a few. Unless it's heavily planted and decorated.

My mum won't let me go to the fish shop..
So iv'e been rather crafty :shifty: And got my friend to get me a water test, some food for the fry and a breeding trap :hey:

Right, the trick is to scoop up the fry as soon as they've been born and put them in the breeder trap. This is much safer than putting the female in there to give birth, and gives her less of a chance to eat them herself. Sticking a plant in there will help them and feeding them frequently (4-6 times daily at first) on liquifry, baby powdered flakes or ground ordinary flakes.
