Flora my female guppy recently delivered a batch of fry and they look totally different from other guppy fry I have. They have grey bodies (nothing unuasual about that!), but all of their fins are black. I have never seen any fry like this! Maybe they're a different breed of guppies or a hybrid! My other guppy fry are yellow and they have no darker colors in them. Has anyone ever seen this before?
(Beware of Flora! She eats everything in sight. . . including most of her babies)
I've fry right now from the same female - about 1/2 have the dark fins and the other are all grey... beats me why some are showing some color so early..
I've had my first batch of fry last weekend, and after a few days, they allready have black drawings on their body and their fins, I don't know if this is normal, or if this is what you mean...
When they fry were born, the immediatly had their black marking on all of their fins. They look different, but cute!
I never saw fry with their color so quick. When I got the mother, Flora, she was already pregnant so I don't know if her fry are a hybrid or only a different breed of guppy.
I have one batch of fry and one fry seems almost albino in colour. He has a bright peach body compared to the other grey coloured fry its in with. It stands out like a sore thumb but since its eating and growing fine, I'm not going to worry at all .
Thank you all for the wonderful advice! Flora, the mother guppy, is half black and her fry look totally different from other guppy fry. As long as they're all eating, they'll be fine.
Is it normal for one of the fry to be smaller than the others?
Very normal. I can't count how many runts(smaller babies) I've had in each littler. One runt was so small that even when he was one month old I had to put him in with other newborns b/c the older ones were picking on him. Turns out he wasn't that much bigger then the newborns after one month!
