Hi. My yellow fancy guppy had 2 babies 2 weeks ago. Unfortunitly,1 was eaten by my female platinum sailfin molly. The survivor is 13 mm long. I think the mother either wants to get into the trap to eat her baby, :byebye: or she wants to be with her baby. :friends:

more than likly eat it  although i had one female i kept in my fry tank as she never touched them

my fry has never got eaten by its parents i have never used a breeder trap i have get all my fry in the same tank aswell and had no flotaing plants until yesterday and i have raised loads of fry thanks

Certainly don't let her in, she more than likely wants a live dinner.

If your adult fish are well fed, the fry are almost completely safe with the adults for these common livebearers. My guppy colony is simply a 10 gallon, call it 38 litres, tank with a generous clump of java moss and some well fed adult guppies. I get enough fry surviving in the tank that I must deal with the surplus population rather regularly by selling off all of the adults in the tank. I would be very distressed to find that only 1 fry survived a drop in that tank. The fry tend to survive in the dozens per drop in even that tiny tank.
