Evening!

I was recently given a Guppy by a friend who ended up with it after a relationship ended. Anyway, I was doing a water change around 5 hours ago, when I noticed 2 or 3 fry swimming around, unfortunately by the time I could round the up they had been eaten! I've just had another look at the tank this evening and found some more, and more and more. I then saw the guppy giving birth to one.

What shall I do?! I wasn't aware that the guppy was pregnant, and I don't have another tank to put the fry into. At the moment I've managed to scoop up a few and have placed them in my largest net which is suspended in the tank. I've dropped a few crushed up flakes of food in there too, but won't be able to get to shop until tomorrow evening after work.

I'm pretty new to fish keeping, let alone fry, so any advice would be deeply appreciated.

Thanks.

You could let nature take its course. If you have plenty cover a few will probably survive. The net will suffice short-term and if you dont want the expense of a fry tank you could buy an in-tank hatchery to save a few. When pregnant guppies can give birth another 2 or 3 times without a male being present. The finely crushed flake will do until you get to an LFS.Remember to buy a livebearer fry food.If you try to save them all your tank will soon be over-run.Good luck,
