hi all

i am just wondering what i should do as the gravel need a clean. But i got 2/3 or more about 2 week old guppy fry in my community tank. i dont want to lost the young or my young

Drain the change water into a white bucket while being careful about sucking up fry. If you do happen to suck any up they will be easier to spot that way and you can just put them back into the main tank. Fry are more sensitive to water quality than adults so don't hold back on needed water changes.

or will it be better trying to catch them and when letting them back into the tank or will they get attack if i done that. and thanks for the advice

I have 100's of fry swimming around the bottom of my guppy tank, they are smart enough to get out of the way and the few i do get i mean like 1-3 at most i just scoop into a cup and put them back in, ive also witnessed them get sucked up and swim straight back out too.

Dont worry too much

I just watch what I'm doing and put back any that try to sneak out with the old tank water. No need to remove any fish before doing a water change. That would stir up the bottom of the tank too much before you started cleaning it.

i have done the gravel/water change without any of the fry/fish getting sunk up lol. how many time do i clean the gravel as i do water change every 3 days to keep on top of it.

If you clean the gravel each time, you will avoid any food build up during the time that you tend to be overfeeding. It is why I use a bare bottom tank for fry. That lets me see what I am doing and shows the dirt really well so I can go right to it.
