Two out of my four newest fry, which are only about a week old, are already looking to be half black like my one female! I didn't think they'd start coloring in so fast, is this normal or am I just lucky? I still haven't gotten to see the other two up close enough yet to know what they look like, so now I have the urge to go and sit in front of my tank till I know for sure... lol, evil babies.

:) I had the same experience as you. Immedaitely after birth, my guppy fry started showing colors. They were half black like their mother. Now, they're gorgeous adult guppies.

Thats pretty cool, what kind of food have you been feeding them?

Cool! I've just been crumbling up some Tetra tropical flake for them, but before that they were just eating whatever they could find on my java moss. Hmm, must get more java moss.....

I also found that the black colouring started to come in first, One of them was even born black! I think it's something to do with them being born with more surface melanin or something

My coloured ones are still developing their different shades. We went away for a week and it was so cool seeing their colours change so dramatically. We have a 2 month old one that we've named 'Flameboy' because he's a beautiful mix of orange and red with an almost holographic snakeskin effect :D

I've noticed that usually the darker a guppie is when young, the more beautiful it will be when it reaches maturity. Unless of course, it's albino, and then it'll definitely light up the entire tank!
