hi,

my guppy fry are 2weeks old tomorrow, is it normal for some of them to be showing sign of colour? i have noticed that about 6 have black on their on tail and 1 has a yellowy tail.

the rest still look like they did but bit bigger.

males tend to colour up faster than females, the females take longer (in my expereince) to colour up but do take over in size...thats just normal lol

Black is the first pigment to develop in guppies so lines like blue/black moscows and half blacks.

I can sex moscows (these have a 100% covering of the body and head).

However you can't be sure if their males though, as some females do carry a lot of colour too.
You can see the start of a gravid spot at about 2-3 weeks in some fish.
And males will start to develop more body colour at about 3-4 weeks with blue and yellow developing before red.

thank you.

will try and get a pic later - may have to catch them and put in hatchery to get pic as theres 37 in the tank (no adults dont worry).

as per original threads not done this baby fish thing b4, i bought them for kids to watch not breed with, so all new to me!

i cant get nydecent pics, the new tank is plastic not glass and the pics are not clear. will have to try and catch them, put in a tub and try that.
