Hello I've had some new guppies today and one is just staying at the top and as eyes in Gravid with a squared kinda look, anyone actually think she's close to birth or am I wishful thinking ?
Video here

Excuse the music it's the ending of a cartoon lol
I forgot to mention she's a little aggressive if another fish goes too close to her

I can't see the vid (link is fine, don't worry), but guppies in lfs are often pregnant, so I would not be surprised.

Is it normal for guppies to sit like that at the surface?

And yea, When are guppies not pregnant. If you buy them expect babies :|

She looks like she has a few days to a week left yet.

Thankyou paradise and that's what I thought
Ammonia 0
Nitrites 0
Nitrate 10
Ph 7
I tested those to see it it was ammonia the first thing I checked she's looking boxy as well, I've put some traps with floating leaves just Incase I see one pop lol,
She was hovering around the top and the heater but now she's frantic up the glass, and then lays on the bottom for a few seconds I've never understood guppies
Thanks again all for your answers

Edit: it could be they are expecting food because of been close to the tank

Don't use the breeder boxes, they stress the fish immensely.

I know I've experienced them that's why i would only put her in as soon as I see baby make sure lights are off and it's planted at the top, I won't leave her over night or for excessive time, she seems to actually hide inside the bends but if she's comfy hiding there ill keep them floating

I wouldn't put her in at all really, just catch the babies as you seen them. If you leave plants floating in the main tank they'll hide in all those plants instead.

Good idea ill try that then, but one question won't it stress her with the lid been opened time to time & how will I know when she's actually in labor as my platy never showed signs I just saw them popping out lol

Nah, mine are always fine when giving birth. She should show some signs. If she looks like she's a little off or under the weather then watch her for about an hour. If she darts around the tank and suddenly stops and starts looking like she squeezing herself then look closely and you should see a baby pop out :) This is how my females always act when giving birth.

Hello
It was the other one that had her babies last night, suppose she's next tonight I new I shoulda watched em all night lmao
But yeah she's got no Gravid and she's skinny none in my tank either :-( will watch the one I asked about closer now

Just saw this, and watched the video. Looks to me like she was just hungry. When I kept guppies and one was close to dropping fry, she'd get really hungry and do the same thing. I did feed them at this point, which also helped reduce the number of fry being eaten. I also fed them right after they'd drop the fry for the same reason.

Yeah, feeding 2 times a day when you have heavily pregnant females just lowers the amount that get eaten :) Are you sure they are not hiding? Baby guppies are amazing hide and seekers  I had one that dropped once, never saw a single baby. About a month later there were babies all over eating with the mother and everything XD She never dropped any more after that and nothing changed in the tank so they must have been those babies lol.

I've shook the plants and moved the ornaments and I can't see anything she defo had her babies though, that one in the vid has an open hole so will watch her tonight
