Hi. My sister has a male guppy that has really bad finrot. We have been giving him API Liquid Fungus Care as it said it would work for fin/tail rot but I don't think it's really working. The poor little guy, who's name is Fynn has literally lost half of his tail fin and he spends most of his time at the top of the tank. Both me and my sister are not sure if he's improving at all, I have heard that transparent fins are regrowing but I have also read that it is the fin rot. If it is regrowing tissue then he has a little tiny 1/2 cm long probably a couple mm's in width peice of regrowth.

Anyways....We really arn't sure whats going on with him. We did just have another guppy die which I'm not sure the cause, all we know is his tail was straight and he too hung out near the top of the tank.

Does anyone have experience dealing with finrot in guppies and if so what did you do to help? Has anyone used API Liquid Fungus Care and have it work? Thanks for your help, me, my sister and Fynn appreciate it.

Info:

-Got the guppy about a month ago
-Fynn is living alone in a 1.5 Gallon tank with a bubbler as of yesterday
-He was in a 2 Gallon with one other guppy (with bubbler and weekly water changes)
-The tank temp is usually around 25 degrees C
-He only seems to respond to getting food (before he was a really friendly little fish), and he only eats a little bit.
-He is on API Liquid Fungus Care

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! :) :)

(I'M NOT GOING TO BE ON THE FORUM BUT PLEASE POST)

well, if you are really closely connected to him, i would give it some time,
but what i would do is end the pain and euthanize him.

sorry

Thanks for your reply...I'll have to see what my sister wants to do.

- I think we have decided to keep trying...I really hope this will all work out. I figure if the meds don't work I'll try another type. And do more water changes. If anyone else has any more advice it would be very very helpful. Thanks!

-Fynn died either today or last night. No need for any further help. RIP
