Well ive spent a while Getting a few different coloured guppy just like i wanted and then what happens, ICH thats what and im not very happy about it.

Im currently treating my water but so far ive lost a guppy a day for 4 days and im down to my last one. im so bloody frustrated. I only kept five so any fry surviving the cut could stay in the tank and it had taken me ages to get each different guppy i wanted.

Ive never had guppy before so im guessing they are not very strong fish but im quietly thankfull that (fingers crossed) ive caught it before it attacks any of my black widows or my bristlenose.

worst bit about this is seeing them weak and just floating round in the current. i had to do something. this has upset the wife so much she says i cant keep guppy anymore as she spends a lot of time watching them in the tank she saw their personalities so to speak and so doesnt want to go through it again. not like this anyway.

I totally sympathise with you and your wife. Its so upsetting to see your pet die when you have "made friends" with it, but you have to go on so you can carry on enjoying the sight that they provide. My son has gone through this 4 or 5 times when he first started and very nearly gave up but now he's more experienced and sees outbreaks as something to learn from and carries on. I love to sit and watch them and see their characters appear and thats why we do it.Good luck with clearing the ich

You are correct that guppies are some very tough fish. I find that I never lose a fish to ich if I spot it early and begin treatment right away. If I wait a bit for treatment, I start losing fish about 4 or 5 days after it first shows up. All fish are about equally susceptible to the ich parasite but if you continue to treat for a few days after the last fish loses its last spot, you should be able to completely eradicate the parasites.
