This may be a dumb question. Can you breed different types of guppies?

Do you mean breed different varieties together? If so, yes they're all the same species, but don't forget you will be producing 'mongrel' fry.

Breeders put a lot of time and effort getting groups of genes together to produce the varieties, so you'll get a mixture in crossbred fry. Even though they might look, outwardly, like a proper breed (as some mongrel dogs look like pedigree dogs) they will be crosses, and you won't know what any fry will look like.

You're also likely to lose some of the colours and patterns altogether, as some colours (like red) are more dominant than other colours (like blue).

It can take forever to have the colors and patterns you want but i think its worth it.

Yes; if you're talking about creating your own type of guppy, it is a lot of fun, but it will take a long time, and you will end up with a lot of guppies and tanks.

Thank you! I'm just starting a 10 gallon tank and I would like to start with 6 guppies (2 male 4 female) but I want to get different varieties and I wasn't sure if they would breed together. I think it would be fun to see what patterns and colours come from mixed varieties.

Yes, it's always fun seeing them get their colours and patterns (they all start off plain greyish sliver).

Do be aware though, that you will end up overstocked in quite a short time, and it can be difficult to rehome guppies; most shops won't take them, for instance.

I do sell my guppies you might need to find a store tha takes them in. I do keep th once i want to breed. And i do have all color variations
