I have about 3 dozen feeder guppies. Today I bought a fancy male guppy to breed to my feeder females to increase the hardiness of the fancy line. Most of my feeder females are standard oil-grey color. Does anyone know of guppy genetics? Will breeding the feeders to the fancy improve their hardiness? How many generations will it take? How would I go able keeping the looks of the fancy? Does anyone know about guppy genetics? I know that to keep the fancy guppies coloration going I have to do "some" inbreeding. Maybe like great grandfather to great grand daughter?

I am not sure of the hardiness of the line but I would not recomend inbreeding as you could get alot of problems, ie.. spinal, tail deformatation, early death. its just easier to pick out which ones you really like and breed those.

domestic guppies usually aren't as hardy as the wild ones. but their good enough. also 36 female guppies is a lot for one male. i recommend you get more males
