Hi all,

One of my Guppy's bottom is now pertruded from it's belly. It's like a small tube sticking out about 2mm. Does anyone have any idea what it is, why it has happened, and if there is anything I can do for it. I am unable to post a picture as my guppies don't stay still long enough to be photographed.

Thanks for reading my post.

Male. Sorry I thought I still had that info in my signiture, I've trimmed it alot.

Where you thinking female and pregnacy? :)

It has been like it for about 3 days now.

Well not actually pregnancy, but when a female has given birth a number of times, I know this can happen. Prob a sort of prolapse. It looks as though their insides start to protrude out and they don't survive for that long afterwards. Don't know with a male though, could it be a parasite/worm? Is the fish behaving normally, or hiding away and not feeding?

It may be worth trying to catch him, put him in a clear jar with a bit of tank water and have a better look with a magnifying glass.

He's behaving completely normally. I might try and get a closer look. I'm fairly sure that the protrusion is part of the guppy, as it is still poohing through it, all be it a lot thinner than usual.

Have a closer look and let us know how you get on. If it is part of his body protruding, there is prob not much you can do, but if he's happy and eating, all well and good. :)
