Sucess! I can breed guppies

My lemon yellow female had her babies within the last hour or so....I'm not sure how many babies there are, but I see at least 20. Spending my time hunting them down and saving their little ungrateful lives :p

Congratulations on your success, i too have a pregnant guppy but being a newbie with guppies i cannot tell when she is due! she is VERY large and her stomach looks ready to split, and her gravid spot recintly darkened to almost black. any idea on her due date?

The only male she has been exposed to in the past several months

The lemon looking one is the mother(I don't know correct terms, but she looks lemony to me)

As far as I now, the father is just a cheap lyretail from Petsmart. So is the mother, for that matter (petsmart, not lyretail). I hope their humbl parentage won't keep them from being purty though, haha.

Petsmart has some great deals on guppies. I get most of mine from there. I guess they have the same stock in every store because the one near me also has male lyretail guppies that look exactly like that and I live in Jersey.

In our petsmart they have a Female GUppy Area, which are $1.29 , then they ahve a all male tnak( some red and blue adn yellow form guppy strain) for $2.99, a tank of all males which are Lyretail's like you have for $ 1.99, and random male fancy no wild looking guppies for $ 2.99

How loverly are your babies, the parents are stunners.

I looked in my tank this morning and found 7 fry swimming in the plants, and I didnt even think they were due yet!

Wow! Those will be some beautiful guppies! I have a few of those lyretail guppies too. I love them! I've been slowly eliminating my females though. Way too many babies being born! lol So now I have a male dominated tank.
Good luck! She will continue giving birth over the next few months about every 4 weeks. That's approx, it varies of course. Hope we get to see pictures of the babies when they get their colors!

Congrats! :good:

:shifty: i no most people say that guppy fry get eaten but i have had my guppy fry for three weeks in a tank with 3 female guppies and none have been eaten yet infact the fry chase after the adults lol

You are going to have male fry with the same tail shape as the farther and same tail colour as the mother with the fathers body colour.

This is a prediction the male fry might not turn out like this because you will never know with guppies.

Congrats by the way!
