hi everyone, i've been away from home around 32 hours and when i got back i found one of my female guppies dead and upon closer inspection it seems that we have a new batch of fry. how common is it for guppies to die during birth? the female must have been pregnant although was nowhere near the size you would expect a fish to be before it drops.
we just did a water test (as we have been doing regular water checks) and everything has come up perfect. We can't know for sure exactly when the death occured but would it be fairly safe to say no damage has been done to the water based on the water test? we are going to do a partial water change to be sure.
also not sure if this is related but the other 3 females seemed to have lost their gravid spots and just had a creamy coloured gap where its usually dark. they also seemed quite pale, however after about 10 mins the gravid spots slowly became darker. Is this anything to be concerned about?
