Hi,

I have just taken in 2 guppies from a friend and i already have 3. One of my guppies keep harassing the 2 new guys tho. He doesn't fin nip them he follows them around and won't leave them and they seemed to be a little stressed by him. I separated them for a few hours but once he was back in he was right at them again. its an all male tank and he never bothers the other 2males but he seems to have a problem with the new guys.

Is there anything else I should be doing?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Are these "new" males adult and fully developed??....Could be that he perceives them to be female...... once they mature, or when he gets used to them.... his behaviour can change..... Guppy aggression is very seldom fatal.... can be damaging though.

i had the same problem, i had 1 fully mature guppy and added a young one into the tank, he would not leave my mature guppy alone slighty different case to yours but still they get along fine now

The guppy in question i've had him for a month (not sure of age) and the 2 my friend gave, he had them 2 months. The 2 he doesnt chase are about 6 months older.
