Guppies

umm yeah...i decided i didnt want my guppies in my other tank, so i decided to move then to my smaller tank

while i was moving the guppies, i had only put one guppy in the tank

when i came back to put the rest of my guppies in i noticed that i had about 30 babies swimming everywhere!

yeah, so when the mother was done i moved her out, i now have 30 fry. good stuff

the fry are now 4 days old, 30 fry one clown pleco in a 10 gallon

my fry are showing no signs of colour

but i have another female in the 20 gallon tank and she is huge, she has the black spot and everything, i was just wondering

a- how long after developing the black spot does the female give birth

b- should i move her into the small tank soon? when? what if she eats the other fry???

Can't really give an answer to a but for b, I don't think it would matter too much as they usualy give birth every month or so, so I wouldn't worry too much about a batch of fry being eaten.

A - They always are going to have a gravid spot, it doesn't go away with birth. It's where the eggs and sperm and such are stored too, not just the fry, so it will always have the color. About one month after their last batch of fry they'll have them again, and that's about the only way to half-accurately tell.

B - It's hard to say. Since I can't see her and all fish look a little different before they give birth, I really can't tell you.

Im glad someone else knows that info regarding females always have a gravid spot.
I was telling someone that my 9wk old guppies were mainly female because of the gravid spot can be seen and i was told it can only be seen if they are preggers. Glad thats cleared up lol.
