Ive lost a guppy once a day for 3 days now...only females. It looks like fin rot(the half of their body where there tail is losses its tail). The one that died today (Goldie, who ive had for the longest) seemed fine last night...just must coem on like that :(
Is fin rot contageous as the others seem to catch it? Im going to do a water change and i might do a course of melafix. Ive isolated the 2 that have a lil bit of it at the moment, just incase it is contageous

Oh yeah ammonia was 0 and nitrite was 0.3 before water change. I will be getting another filter to go in the tank on saturday(got a juwel tank and they have the built in ones) so will get a internal fluval one

Hey there,

Finrot is usually apparent for a good couple of weeks before it'll kill your fish, it won't happen overnight. How long has your tank been up and running? Melafix will only help repair the damage but you must find the cause and treat the rot itself. The interpet range has a finrot med, can't remember the number, that and a water change, get those nitrites down.

Mmmm well the actual tail isnt rotting but its more her actual body is becoming scaleless
SHall i give her a salt bath?

Mmmm, so not finrot. Sounds like it could be amonia burns, is your tank fully cycled? Is there anything you're doing that could be putting it through a mini-cycle? Sorry if this sounds like I'm teaching my granny to suck eggs, but when you clean the filters are you doing it in old tank water?

Yeah my tanks been setup for ages now. I am quiet experienced, but not really with finrot if you know what i mean ;) No i cant think of anything really, ill get some fin rot stuff 2moz
Ive taken out the victims so do i need to still treat the main tank or just the hospital?

Grrr, one of my rarer females has got it real bad now! CAnt even swim! Shes a lyretail pintail or something, and she was pregnant!
Im getting soem finrot stuff 2moz and another filter maybe! A fish is getting infected once a day and they look fine th enight before! This is so frustrating!

No-one died of it today
Ive got some fin rot stuff so hopefully thatll work
I got 2 more females today and left them in the bag until the tank settles. I noticed that one of them has fin rot. SO i seperated them into new bags, wiht fresh water. Ones got it and th eother hasnt
So the finrot came form the shop,as thats where i got the dead females from and tnd the finrot started since i got them

Doesnt seem to be any signs of fin rot any more, but theyre just dying once a day still.
COuld it be a n internal parasite thing? Should i get the interpet general tonic or soemthing?

I'm not going to help at all posting this, but I've been through the same. My guppies all died from some strange disease that was sort of like finrot, but not exactly. :( And it was only my guppies!!

Exactly the same!

Maybe try a bacterial medication and see if that helps with anything. Usually a bacterial medication can help fish cheer up. And since fin rot is bacterial and you are relating it to that I would definatly try the bacterial med of some sort.
