Hi Guys,

I have 5 female guppies in my 2 foot tank. Water conditions are good and fish are healthy. I did have a male in amongst them however he went to fishy heaven about 2 weeks ago.

3 of the females were looking rediculously fat and pregnant up until 2 days ago when their
big stomach appears to be a lot smaller. Their Gravid Spot is also dark black.

The only change ive made was i went from a fast flowing hang on filter to an air
pump filter inside the tank.

I did this because i thought the hang on filter was too violent as it created quite a current.

Could the stress of my hand being in there changing filters do this?

thanks in advance.

Adam

i have no idea, the same thing sort of happened with my one female. shes kind of round again but i can't see the eyes of the fry. shes an albino red and tis just dark pink. with the one female i had that i actually had have babies you could see silver eyes somewhat through the gravid spot.

I dont think so, i spent a long time searching the tank for little ones.

I didnt see any.... maybe they ate them?

I dont have any seperation or anything... just a few plants.

Oh well.. ill just have to wait it out i guess

Thanks for your help

hi,
add as many plants/hiding places as you can to increase your chances of fry,
floating plants are great because the new born fry like to hide in it, then you can hang a breeder net in your tank and use a cup to move the fry, signs of a mum ready for birth are,
being grumpy,
a square look to her belly
not eating
eating more
hiding
good luck with the next batch which will be in around 4 weeks, if they did infact eat the fry.
all the best donna :)
