I was watching my bunch of very pregnant guppies just now and i noticed that the gravid spot which was previously black has gone red on the 2 biggest ones. Could anyone tell me what this means? I was hoping to have another week before d day as have only started cycling nursery tank today.

well in a few of my females there gravid spot has gone red a few hours before birth, other haven't done it at all

I'll have to keep an eye out for that lilfishie, mine go red during and after, my partner has all my fry at present as she can give them all the love and attention they require. good luck with the guppy's kajones

Well I've just put one of them in the breeding net cos i thought i saw a trace of bloody stuff coming out of it. How long is it sfe to leave it in there? I bet they give birth overnight .

as long as she doesn't seem to be any stress she should be ok, turn the tank lights off, do you have live plants in the tank? if you do maybe float a small one in the trap to help her feel secure :good:

I've put a plant in and turned lights off but should i leave her overnight? What if she eats the babies? they won't stand a chance in the trap. I am really kicking myself for not getting the other tank sorted earlier.
