USA,
well my first batch of fry only 6 were left. one vanished and three died. I was wondering is 6 months was a life span for inbreed guppies, or could they have been sick? No others died. They were my only three fish to die in a long time. The other two sibling guppies are doing great.

I have one guppy, that is 10 months old and she looking very old now, her sisters one died after birthing, and the over just died.

I would'nt be suprised if they dieing of inbreeding.

Guppys don't seem to last long, it's all the inbreeding has weakened them.

Depending on the water conditions, temperature and frequency of water changes the life span of guppies can be significantly different. The average lifespan of a guppy is about 2 to 3 years. After much inbreeding the lifespan could be lowered but it does take significant inbreeding to do this. Most of the fry would be physically deformed or dead at birth and the remaining fry would die early. High temperature can significantly lower the lifespan of guppies. Guppies are cold blooded (like all fish) so if the temperature is too high their metabolic rate can be raised and they will essentially grow old faster.

The most likely killer of fish is lack of water changes. If the water conditions deteriorate over time it will kill fish before they reach adult size. Most fish kept in unchanged water won't achieve full growth.
