We have two male guppies amongst the new tankmates in out tank and they are chasing the bejesus out of our two female platties, paying far too much attention to their nether regions!! Is this normal? It certainly looks odd and thankfully we will be getting out female guppies in the next couple of days.

Yeah, they just want to breed. Usually the guideline with the common livebearers is 2 females to every 1 male. How big is your tank and what fish do you have?

It's 64 litres with 3 platties, the 2 male guppies, 2 albino corys and 9 neons. We did put two little shrimps in too but we've yet to see those! This all happened yesterday - I rhink we really should get the female guppies today?

Did you just put all the fish in yesterday, or are you saying they just started to chase the platies yesterday? And how long has the tank been set up?
