I have set up a 10 gallon tank with all the good stuff, and I've had fish in it for about a week. The tank is well maintained, and has all the proper stuff plus regular cleaning. It currently has 7 guppies and a pleco. I also play guitar (electric and acoustic-electric). Could the sound from my amplifier bother, stress, or damage my fish? Thanks in advance, any type of answers/advice is appreciated!

Yes, loud noises and vibrations can stress out fish, which is usually while people will tell you not to put a tank by a t.v. or stereo, as long as its not too loud it should be ok.
Just a word of warning, if its a common pleco it has already outgrown your tank as these get up to 24 inches, usually 18 in aquariums...

Edit-Welcome to the forum by the way.

Years ago I played bass in a rock band. We practiced at the drummer's house, who also bred oscars. It was as loud as you could imagine a metal band with Marshall full stacks, double bass drum kit, and 500w of bass through a 4x15 bottom would be. It is generally accepted that breeding fish are happy fish, those oscars were much happier than the neighbors. At least the oscars never called the cops on us.

I think it is a case of what the fish is used to, very similar to a dog who is raised in the city being used to a lot of noise. Take a dog from out in the boonies where it is pretty quiet and bring them to the city, they will generally take a while to get acclimated to the almost constant background noise.

Thanks for the info, guys! The pleco is a common pleco, and it said on the tag at the store they get up to 24". When it outgrows the tank, I'll either get a new tank or give it away to a friend. Right now hes only 5.5cm, so he's good for my 10 gallon. I always play guitar a lot, and they seem fine and happy. Like what you said, Tolak, I think they're used to it by now.

It's already too big i'm afraid. You will need a bigger tank very soon.Believe me, I have had 8 plecos (4 i sold, 2 got killed by CAE's and the other two I still have). My biggest one, a sailfin was 14 1/2.While my smallest adult was 12'.Saying this they were most definetely stunted, and the others were still growing at 10'.
