my plants arrived today , but when planting , the amazon sword is so big with such a large rootbase that i disturbed the cat litter under the sand. tank is now so cloudy i cannot see what it looks like , as i basicly had to plant it blind. this has really knocked the wind out of my sails!

Don't be dishearted m8, it's all a learning experience. I think a lot of ppl have some sort of problem when starting out into something new.

Give it some time it will settle and clear. You can always do a few water changes to help it along. Just make sure not to disrupt the substrate in the process.

i took out all the plants and wood etc drained the tank down and capped the substrate with an extra 2 bags of sand . then re-filled it and planted as it filled . when it cleared properly today theres 1 adjustment that needs to be made . i have planted my stem plants too far apart and they look a bit gangly and messy so im going to sort that today.

its still a long way from being where i want it , it needs some tidying , more plants and a bit of "polish" but heres as it is so far . please bear in mind its my 1st attempt with plants. any critism is welcome as long as its constructive .

Looks good!!

I may have tried to sink the woods into the substrate a little bit.

A possible re-arrange of the wood could be to move the large bit into the corner (ish) turn through 45 degrees so it facing into the centre and maybe position the other piece so that its underneath with its "arm" reaching out into the middle of the tank.

I can't really tell if the two pieces are the same colour, the above suggest might look odd if they are not similar.

the light in the pic isnt very good but nope they are slightly different, plus i plan to plant anubias on the smaller piece. i will be ordering some more plants tonight

That's an awesome piece of bogwood. Would look great just off-centre a bit. Golden Ratio/rule of thirds and all that...
