been having an okish day, my poor mollies died from columaris so i took the descision to put the other 2 out of thei misery too,, had to be done!

moved a few pieces of decor trying to get one of them and have been standing with my hand in the tank trying to put it all back together, then i go and let my pregnant guppy out of the net by knocking it so caught her eventually.. she could win a gold at the flippin olympics!! only to turn around and realise that my sleeve has caught on the net that my fry were in and most of them have been tipped out.. the guppies had the sense to stay at the bottom of the net and didnt get out but the mollie fry did, and 9 are missing.. and the angel fish are looking pleased with them selves  ive really had a gutfull for one day and to make it worse this stupid stupid tamk is almost impossible to get into in a hurry, 2 lift off sides, a brace bar central, and a light unit that literally just sits on the sides, so 3 parts have to be moved off one by one to gain access in any decent sense of the word
cant see anymore of the babies, i caught 3 and im gutted, im soaking wet, but most of all im glad my angel fish cant lip read

anyway hows your day been ?

I've had days like that. Makes you wonder why you bother lol.
I used to have an isolation tank and the light would play up when I lifted the lid . Always fiddling about with the stupid thing.

Bless ya, Shelagh, sounds like a rotten day!
I thought mine was rubbish until I read yours.
Here's hoping you have a better day tomorrow! :flowers:

The problem with livebearers is that no matter what you do there can be heart break. Trying to manage the fry and protect them is a lot of hard work. Of course the moment they sre spilled into the tank it's impossible not to feel you have effectively just fed them to the other fish, even if by accident!

But if you do tend and care for them before they are half way grown another round will be born. They will perpetually breed and inbreed until the tank is over loaded with weak fish highly likely to pick up white spot at the drop of a hat.

I'm not sure any of this is cheering you up but well done on trying to be a caring parent anyway! I predict you will have 200 children by this time next year ;)

it sure does wilder.. only been back at it for a few weeks and already im having a nervous breakdown

thankyou stang, im sure it will be a lot better than today had been, can`t get much worse thats for sure,

shelagh xxx

But I did pass it!

Hope you have a better day tomorrow!

oh gimme a drink!!!!

""actually i wont as i will be rehoming the fry and seperating as soon as they are sexable, and i have no male guppies .. thay all came to me pregnant, i am and always have been a responsible fish keeper and i pride myself on that, so no i have no intentions of "breeding" them, but i wasnt about to intentionally feed them to the others :)

AWWW shelagh (((((((hugs))))))

i had an oops today to , my limias are in my aquaone to get the breeding trap in i have to move the lid with the light in over -- so i thought - i wont wait for hubby to come and do it i'll do it myself
dropped the lid in the tank - shot some frogbit out of the top with the force of it dropping in the water , knocked the protective casing from the lights then everything went sizzle sizzle and all dark , flicked it off at the plug --- all well in the tank except for 1 heavilly pregnant squished albino cory :(
but something tickled my foot ------ on the floor was over 40 shrimp (i know i counted them back in) bloody jumping everywhere , they were on the frogbit when it shot out the tank
anyway they are now all back in , 21 new born limia fry in the trap - they only have fry every 8-10 weeks and not very many so need to take care of them :)
hubby moved the setttee and found 7 dried up shrimp under there -- so i have been banned from moving stuff lol

with my MS got weak arms and hands (aswell as my legs and brain lmao) so shouldn't have done it really

only 1 new bulb needed for the tank so fishies got 1 half romantic part of the tank now
FORGOT to mention the screaming and crying 3 and 5 year old panicking about their shrimp while i'm trying to sort it out
ANYWAY -- hows the shrimp :):):)

 im not laughing, im smiling !! honest :D

geewizz ive had a good day by comparison then sarah ..gosh why do we do it?

the shrimp are all fab thanks, really enjoying theirselves in the tank and munching ( or grazing) on brocilli.. those babies are soo cute, but really hard to see with my old eyes  they make me smile when i see them hitchiking on the snails shells

i'm crying lmao i could have strangled the kids when they wouldn't stop screaming , god knows what the neighbours thought

Shrimplets are the cutest things they'll always make you smile  i'm in love with my CBS shrimplets at the moment , they're only a few days old and look like tiny shards of humbugs swimming around the tank
