Growth rates

In my tank the barbs and labs have grown really quickly (doubled in the last 2-3 months) but the bigger blood parrots have hardly grown at all.....any ideas why?

well some fish grow at different rates. how big r ur blood parrots.

My BP's are all between 2 and 3 inches, I've had all of them a year (when I inherited the tank). They just don't seem to grow at all yet the other fish have noticeably grown in the week I've been away let alone the 2-3 months before that....

I thought all cichlids were quite quick growers

oh, by the way one of them is dyed (I don't agree with dying fish but as I inherited the tank I'll take care of him as best I can - just never buy any more) but the other three are typical bp colours so I'm assuming they're not

Blood parrots are not cichlids, they are hybrid man made fish. Blood parrots suffer from all kinds of genetic problems and slow growth could be just one of them.
